Dante Gliencki, Emergency Manager for City of Independence, Missouri Dante began his emergency management career as a Disaster Services volunteer for the American Red Cross in Kansas City. He later worked for the Kansas City Chapter and then for the National American Red Cross . Beginning in 1996, Dante worked nineteen years for the State Emergency Management Agency in Missouri (SEMA) in the Emergency Human Services Section. In November 2014, Dante assumed the position of Manager of the Emergency Preparedness Division for the City of Independence, MO Fire Department. Dante is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in donations management and volunteer management. Dante is active with the National Association of State Emergency Donations and Volunteer Coordinators (NASEDOVOC), the Missouri Governor's Faith-Based and Community Services Partnership for Disaster Recovery (The Partnership), the Missouri VOAD , the Greater Kansas City COAD , the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Emergency Managers Committee (MEMC), the Missouri Emergency Managers Association (MOEMA) and various committees and projects. Chris Duncan, RN. Chris works with Hospice Care in Independence, MO and has been with MRCKC since 2012 and very outstanding as a volunteer. He has been active in not only MRC, but CERT and TEAM RUBICON. Dr. Sharon White-Lewis, RN. Sharon is an Educator at the Department of Nursing for the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She is currently the EOC Supervisor for MRCKC and is in charge of ensuring that our protocols are maintained with the Medical Director at EMS. MRCKC Communications /Public Information Officer
PIO - Justin Gann Justin has been a volunteer with the Emergency Operations Center in Independence, MO since 2013. Justin has conducted operations, lead the Storm Spotter functional unit, been one of the many boots on the ground in multiple response operations and is a Ham Radio technician. Justin can often be found instructing citizen and community awareness classes and continues to be one of several citizen leaders in Independence Emergency Preparedness. Day to day, Justin is a Systems & Network Administrator, having spent well over a decade in the IT industry. Justin believes in the power of people and technology making a difference. MRCKC Deputy PIO and Deputy Finance/Admininstrative Officer Dawn Miller Dawn began a career in public safety in 1991 working for the Jackson County Department of Corrections. She later became a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) with Blue Springs Police Department, and worked there for over a decade. Dawn worked in education with at-risk students for nine years, followed by seven years in social services for the state of Missouri. She began as a volunteer advisor for the Independence Fire Explorers post in 2015 and later transitioned over to Independence Emergency Preparedness. Dawn is the Executive Secretary for the Kansas City Regional Community Organizations Active in Disaster (KCCOAD) and serves as Secretary for the COAD Long Term Recovery Committee. She is active with the Community Disaster Resiliency Network (CDRN), Children and Youth in Disasters, Interfaith Preparedness Advisory Group and Older Adults in Disaster committees. During COVID-19 response Dawn currently serves in the Emergency Human Services Mass Care Emergency Support Function of the Multi Agency Coordination System under the direction of the MAC Group and Mid-America Regional Council (MARC). Dawn has served as MRCKC Secretary, Deputy Finance/Administration and Deputy Public Information Officer. Joe Medina, EMT Joe has been a volunteer with the MRCKC for several years, completing his EMT training and becoming active in the First Aid team the past 3 years. Joe is passionate about serving at First Aid events as he enjoys working with the public, especially at the Special Olympics events. He helps to keep our equipment in good shape. He is a true volunteer. Joe helps with childcare of his several grandchildren, and is becoming quite skilled at ballroom dancing. MRCKC Recruitment Specialist
Position Open MRCKC Training Specialist Virginia Bruhn, Paramedic Virginia joined the MRCKC in 2015 and immediately began volunteering with the First Aid Team and started as our new Training Officer. She has an extended background in training. She is a certified instructor for Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, American Heart Association (AHA) CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Virginia has served as a CERT trainer for many years. Virginia currently lives in Eastern Jackson County. She is a retired Fire Captain from the Fort Osage Fire Protection District, and is a licensed Paramedic. She is looking forward to making the training program at MRCKC a strong and successful one for both our members and the public. MRCKC Member-at-Large Kellie Carroll, Pediatric Respiratory Therapist, EMT Kellie Carroll did not waste any time getting involved when she joined MRCKC in 2015. With her Master's in Public Administration and other extensive health care experience, she is the perfect match for serving on the Executive Committee, and we are pleased to have her join us. Kellie has been a pediatric respiratory therapist on both sides of Missouri, and has a background in critical care transport transport. She is a frequent volunteer on the First Aid Team as well.
