MRCKC Executive Committee Financial Officer
Position Summary: The Financial Officer is responsible for working with the MRCKC Executive Committee, related subcommittees and the MRCKC Volunteer Coordinator to develop an annual budget. The Financial Officer is responsible for summarizing the budget requests of each work group and presenting the combined requests to the Executive Committee for their consideration. The Financial Officer is also in charge of monitoring the financial status of the Medical Reserve Corps of Greater Kansas City by working with MARC Emergency Services Staff to obtain a monthly financial report. Additionally, the Financial Officer shall work with the Executive Committee and MARC staff to determine what types of additional funding sources should be pursued to support future MRCKC activities
Elected By: MRCKC Full-Corps
Length of Term: 2 years with eligibility for re-election to one additional 2 year term, if desired.
Time Commitment: 100% of Chaired Meetings, 80% of Executive Committee Meetings, 60% of Full Corps Meetings, 2 Events open to all trained MRCKC Volunteers
Reports To: The Executive Committee
Responsibilities
- Works with the MRCKC Work Groups to define their financial needs for the activities planned for the coming year
- Communicates the combined financial needs/requests from the Work Groups to the Executive Committee
- Works with the Executive Committee to finalize a budget for the next year
- Reviews and organizes budget for Committee consideration and approval
- Reviews and organizes expenditures for Committee consideration and approval
- Establishes, organizes, and facilitates revenue generation strategies for Committee consideration and approval
- Represents Executive Committee thru presentations, other committee participation, guest speaking engagements, and other Executive Committee directed activities
- Participates in all financially related discussions, meetings, and internal/external communication and planning activities relating to the Executive Committee
- Participates in all funding strategy development activities as it relates to the Executive Committee (i. e. , grant opportunities, donation and fund raising strategies, local and regional funding opportunities, etc. )
- Organizes and monitors the expenditure of funds process. Representsthe Committee on all auditing and review processes relating to the allocation and disbursement of funds on behalf of the Committee
- Participates in planning and strategy meetings relating to the short and long term success of the Committee
- Participates in the development of the value proposition/measurement tool demonstrating the benefits and the Organization’s value to the regions and outside organizations we serve
- Participates in at least two MRCKC Events per calendar year. Events must be open to all trained MRCKC Volunteers and cannot be an MRCKC Executive Committee or Workgroup meeting. Examples include but are not limited to: Community outreach events, training, workshops, and regional exercises.
- Responds to requests for information via telecommunications within 48-hours of receipt for non-urgent messages and within 24-hours of receipt for urgent messages
- Other duties as determined by the Executive Committee
Qualifications
- Completion of all training required of MRCKC Volunteers
- A commitment to the value and mission of the MRCKC
- Knowledge, experience and appreciation for the work of volunteers
- Comprehensive understanding of how the MRCKC integrates into the KC Metro Region
- Previous experience with grant management or financial administration
- Positive working relationship with KC Metro stakeholders and ability to demonstrate diplomacy when working with local, state and federal planning and response partners
- Ability to pass a Red Cross background check
